Mallalli Falls stands as the tallest waterfall in Coorg, cascading magnificently from a height of 200 feet (61 meters) through the pristine forests of the Western Ghats. Located in Somwarpet taluk, near the Pushpagiri Wildlife Sanctuary, this spectacular waterfall is fed by the Kumaradhara River and offers one of the most breathtaking natural experiences in Karnataka.
The falls are renowned for their dramatic monsoon transformation, when the gentle trickle becomes a roaring cascade of crystal-clear water. The surrounding landscape is a photographer's paradise, featuring dense tropical forests, coffee plantations, and diverse wildlife that make this destination truly special.
The journey to Mallalli Falls is an adventure in itself, featuring a moderate 2-kilometer trek through lush coffee estates and dense forest paths. The trail offers glimpses of exotic birds, butterflies, and native flora, making it a nature lover's delight. The trek typically takes 45-60 minutes and requires moderate fitness levels.
During the monsoon season, the trek becomes more challenging but incredibly rewarding, as the entire forest comes alive with the sounds of cascading water and chirping birds. The path can be slippery, so proper trekking shoes and rain gear are essential.
